Adrish, the chain of zero waste organic stores, which has three outlets in Pune (Koregaon Park, Aundh, Bhandarkar Road), has arrived in Delhi. The store chain has pioneered zero waste retail in the country and stocks all manner of organic and natural products.

The organic food products are directly sourced from farmers in bulk and poured into wood-and-glass dispensers for shoppers. Unlike other organic stores, one won’t find organic food brands here, as there are few packaged products in the store except the odd glass jar of peanut butter under an eponymous brand name.

The owner, Gajendra Choudhary, explains the mandate of the store chain is to limit usage of plastic while also providing farmers with a market, as well as, bringing natural and organic products to consumers.

How it works at Adrish is that consumers have to bring their own utensils/bags to carry their products in. Once at the store, one has to get their containers/bag weighed. After that, you can browse and fill your containers/bags with whatever you’d like to purchase, before checking out at the cash counter.

The products on offer are much like those at any organic store except there are few brands. Adrish does have a vibrant range comprising not just food, but also, it aspires to encompass the zero waste lifestyle as a whole.

They stock organic groceries including organic flours, rice, lentils, herbs, honey, cold pressed oils, nut butters, bilona ghee, healthy beverages, earthenware, bamboo toothbrushes, bronze dinnerware, copper bottles, wooden utensils, areca plates, natural bath and body products, natural detergents, floor cleaners, wooden toys, yoga mats, natural wallets; and even organic kurtis, stoles and sarees.
