Launched in Amsterdam earlier this year, Kocoatrait—which claims to be the world’s first zero waste chocolate—has now launched its range of vegan chocolates in India.

Kocoatrait’s dairy-free chocolate bars are packaged using cocoa husk paper, which is upcyled, is plastic-free, is recyclable, and is also biodegradable and compostable. “We have done away with packaging as much as possible. This has helped us optimise our transport volume, thereby reducing our carbon footprint,” says the brand’s founder, L Nitin Chordia, who along with wife Poonam, is India’s first certified chocolate taster.

Kocoatrait’s chocolates are made with organic cocoa beans from Kerala, and unrefined organic khandsari (muscovado) sugar. However, the chocolate is not organic certified.

The chocolates are available for retail in 10 flavours, including Sukku Coffee, Masala Chai, Lavender, Banana, Pink Rose, Red Rose, Lemongrass, Banana, Coconut Milk & Cinnamon and Irish Coffee.

They do not contain any vegetable oils.
