Satyajit and Ajinkya Hange, farmer-siblings, co-founded Two Brothers Organic Farms (TBOF), a 21-acre certified organic farm in Bhodani, a small village in Maharashtra’s Indapur district.

Produce from their farm is used to make naturally processed traditional Indian foods with minimal or no use of machines or complex equipment. Almost all the products that they prepare in their 90-year old farm kitchen are handcrafted involving the rural farmer community in their village.

Born in Bhodani, the Hange brothers’ parents enrolled them into boarding school – the Bishop’s School, Pune. Satyajit is an Economics graduate from Fergusson College and has an MBA from the University of Pune. Ajinkya is a computer Science Graduate with an MBA from Pune University.

The siblings climbed the corporate ladder to work for MNCs like Citibank, DBS, HDFC and HSBC for nearly a decade.

TBOF ships its products to more than 18 nations today from their village after their packhouse in Pune was shut temporarily during the lockdown. Their products can be purchased online, directly from their e-commerce platform and website, as well as, other online marketplaces like Amazon, and a few other curated online shops.

Besides selling online they also sell directly at farmers’ markets in Mumbai and Pune. At these markets, customers also purchase fresh produce from them— fruits, veggies, as well as, A2 dairy products like cheese, buttermilk and raw butter.

The farmers’ markets have been discontinued now during the pandemic. TBOF also sells through selected partnerships – the Farmers’ Store Mumbai, Swasthyam in Mumbai, the Bombay Sparrow, Farmer Story and a few others.

Ajinkya and Satyajit have also founded a community initiative called OrganicWe in Mumbai to raise awareness of organic food. They now work with over 1,000 school students and 3 prominent schools in Mumbai and Pune to develop community-led organic farming training modules for them.
