Seed Rakhis, Organic Rakhis or Beeja Sutras are handmade by a group of village women from the Paradsinga village of Madhya Pradesh. Each seed rakhi is made from indigenous cotton and is adorned with an assortment of seeds. Both the seeds and the cotton used are organic.
These beautiful seed rakhis are a symbol of a sister’s love for her brother. As a sister’s love for her brother continues to grow, the seed rakhi, too, grows into a plant.
After rakhi, you are meant to sow the rakhi, which will go on to grow into a plant.
DETAILS OF SEED RAKHIS:
- Each seed rakhi is made from near-extinction indigenous cotton
- The cotton used is grown organically in Paradsinga village, Madhya Pradesh, and is converted into handspun yarn over charkhas by women of the Gram Sewa Mandal in Wardha, Maharashtra
- The rakhis are naturally dyed by artisans in Erode, Tamil Nadu, and are then converted into handcrafted bands embedded with Organic and non-GMO seeds*
- Each seed rakhi comes tied around a seed paper card, which can also be planted like the seed rakhi. The handcrafted paper cards are made of recycled paper and are also embedded with organic and non-GMO seeds
