Nature Bio Foods—one of India’s foremost organic food companies—has completed 25 successful years. Taking cognisance of the ill effects of conventional farming, Nature Bio Foods (NBF) made it its mission to help build a sustainable world through organic agricultural practices. The company swung into action in the year 1993, with only a few farmers from Punjab. By boycotting chemicals and pesticides, it hoped to address issues of deteriorating soil conditions and food safety. Over the decades, the number of farming families working with the company has increased to 80,000.
As a subsidiary of LT Foods, one of the leading basmati rice companies in the world, it was natural for NBF to make its foray into the organic segment with rice. Over the period, it has expanded its range to include an array of 100% organic pulses, spices, cereals, nuts, oilseeds and superfoods. Ensuring affordability without compromising on quality has always remained a cornerstone of NBF’s service.
The USD 60-mn company’s accomplishments and reliability are mirrored in the number of awards and certifications conferred upon it over the years. Its commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards is evident from its lineup of international certifications, such as Bio Suisse Organic, Naturland, USDA Organic, JAS and many others.
The state-of-the-art technologies and facilities employed by NBF help execute its vision. The company’s total production volume stands at an impressive 63,000 metric tonne per annum. It cites its long-standing relations with the farming community as the key reason behind its success.
Motivated to support farmers, NBF has partnered with the Fairtrade Foundation and contributed to farmers’ wellbeing through various development projects. Owing to the company’s diligence and the unwavering faith farmers have placed in it, 8% of the organic farmers in India are now associated with the company. Moreover, 12.4% of organic land in India is utilised by NBF for farming.
The venture is a culmination of the vision of three leaders at the helm. The vast experience of Brigadier JS Oberoi, CEO of Nature Bio Foods in Agribusiness has been instrumental in the company’s growth. On NBF’s 25th anniversary, he says, “The trust built over the last 25 years with partners is our most valued asset and achievement.”
The company’s young and dynamic directors—Rohan Grover and Anmol Arora—have also played key roles in developing the best-in-class processes and capabilities, with the aim of taking NBF to unprecedented heights.
The company’s international presence extends to Germany, Holland, Italy, France, Austria, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UAE and Israel. As a consequence of its prolific international growth, it sustains independent facilities in USA and Europe. NBF also enjoys the distinction of being a leading exporter of organic food grains from India.
As an organisation propelled by determined leaders, NBF has faced every challenge with an undaunted spirit. The promise of constant development and innovation, along with an unwavering commitment to quality lies at the heart of its ethos.
