Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy), Government of India, and ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), the apex chamber of the country, with the support of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Goa is organising a 3-day event, AROGYA FAIR, at Youth Hostel, Panaji, Goa, from 30th November to 2nd December 2019.

The comprehensive health fair on Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy by the Ministry of AYUSH, will facilitate promotion of the AYUSH way of life in the region. Goa is a huge resource of medicinal plants and its people have been traditionally using nature for various cures.

Visitors to the fair can expect free health checkups, a wide variety of natural medicines, yoga counselling, and interactive sessions on healthcare. More than 100 ayurvedic, homeopathic and natural products are on display at the fair.

Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Union Minister of Goa for AYUSH (I/C) and Defence, Government of India, inaugurated Arogya Fair. In his address, Naik appreciated the effort of the organisers to host the AYUSH-themed event in Goa. He advised that the combined efforts of all would help promote the AYUSH industry and enhance awareness amongst people. He also mentioned that the national institute for ayurveda, yoga, and naturopathy, which is currently under construction, would help serve people.

The fair is expected to raise awareness among on the benefits of yoga, managing lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, skin and hair disorders, stress management and much more, through lifestyle changes and natural methods. Concurrent to the programme, sessions on Quality Certification, Export Credit Schemes, Yoga for Life and other healthcare sessions will take place for the public and for entrepreneurs.

Doctors, researchers, and scientists from various AYUSH councils are on duty to help propagate the programme. In addition, national experts on Yoga, Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy and Unani will deliver lectures on management of various diseases through AYUSH therapies.

The entry to the fair is free and the fair will be open to public daily from 11.00 am – 7.00 pm between 30th November and 2nd December.

The Goa State Biodiversity Board made a special effort to mobilise traditional healers from various surrounding area of Panaji to apprise them of quality certification.

  • Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)
  • Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS)
  • Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM)
  • Centre for Medicinal Plants Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH)
  • Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN)
  • National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB)

Nila Mohanan, IAS, Government of Goa, Depart of Health Services, in her address, appealed to the public to avail benefits of the facilities available at the event.

ASSOCHAM Director, East and North East, Perminder Jeet Kaur, extended thanks to all the participants and said such initiatives at regular interval would help increase acceptability of the Indian form of medicine domestically. She said that internationally, ayurveda and yoga are gaining popularity and Indian manufactures should explore global markets.
