If you are among those who make peanut butter at home, you’d know that Pintola Peanut Butter – Organic is second only to that.

Luscious in texture, with crunchy bits of crushed organic peanuts and no added sugar, this peanut butter—certified organic by both the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), as well as, the Indian organic standard depicted by the blue and red ‘India Organic’ logo—makes for a guilt free, protein-filled breakfast or snack choice.

We tried it on brown bread with a dash of honey, and as a post-workout shake, whizzed in the mixer with a cup of chilled milk. The taste was always wholesome, refreshing and instantly energising. It also made for a scrumptious mid-meal indulgence with sliced apples and bananas.

Priced at Rs 199 for a 350g jar (Rs 169 on Amazon), Pintola Peanut Butter – Organic is only slightly more expensive than most commercial, non-organic brands available in the market.

For example, a 400g jar of Dr Oetker Funfoods Peanut Butter Crunchy costs Rs 169 (on Amazon) and a 924g jar of Sundrop Peanut Butter Regular, Crunchy, Rs 270 (on Flipkart). However, these products have 7.7g and 6.8g of sugar per 100g respectively, while Pintola has only 3g of total sugar (and no added sugar) for the same weight.

Yoga Bar’s peanut butter is slightly more reasonably priced, at Rs 137 (discounted price on website yogabars.in) for a 400g jar.

On the other hand, Organic Peanut Butter – Sweet ‘N’ Salty by Living Food Company, which uses 90% organic peanuts, organic jaggery powder and organic rock salt, seems to be branded as a more premium product, priced at Rs 199 for a 200g bottle.

Pintola Peanut Butter – Organic appears healthier than most popular brands, which have added sugar, stabilisers, vegetable oil and salts. It claims to use 100% certified organic roasted peanuts and uses no other ingredient besides peanuts.

The packaging assures, “Oil separation is natural,” owing to their omission of emulsifiers, which are used by most other peanut butter makers to keep the oil and nut content blended.

Pintola Peanut Butter – Organic comes in a sturdy plastic jar, which could be reused as a storage jar. However, the manufacturers should consider shifting to the ecologically more conscious glass packaging in the future.
