The most skilful thief I ever encountered,

it doesn’t steal my seconds, minutes and hours all at once.

It robs me in millisecond glances at first,

that turn into minutes, hours, days

–in the blink of an eye.

Chunks of my existence

sucked into a vortex of endless scrolling and trivia.

And I voluntarily hand over my time

in return for some immediate gratification.

Just some memes, videos and forwards.

And each time around,

I’m left with a lifespan shorter

than the last time the time sucker sucked away my time,

to do the things I’d said I’d do.

To do the things I swore I’d see through.
